"Is there anything in particular you would like to learn?" asks Amy Chapman, member of The Vanilla Rooms team, who was recently a L'Oreal colour trophy finalist along with Chris Wild, who also works at the chic and contemporary hair hub.
After a brief discussion, Carly Fairchild opts to learn how to tailor her brunette lush locks for an evening look.
Shampoo & Condition
Amy informs us that you should shampoo your hair twice. I had always wondered why this happened in salons, and so she explains that the first shampoo is to cleanse the hair, whilst the repeat is to leave it with a fresh finish. Carly's response is, "you learn something new everyday!", which is exactly why events such as this are fabulous.... you are being pampered whilst learning! Amy also leaves us with a tip about towel drying hair: "Don't rub it. Lightly press".
Why? To protect the cuticles and prevent frizz!
Be a blow-dried beauty
After combing through the wet hair, Amy dries Carly's tresses in sections and shapes it to her personal preference.
Look super-sweet with a bit of heat!
Add volume and va-va-voom to your hair by using heated rollers! This gives it the body that it requires to look glam-tastic!
"Hairspray and leave for ten minutes", says Amy, adding, "I usually take about an inch thick of hair for each roller"

Style with straighteners
Demonstrate and imitiate!
Amy shows Carly how to achieve the look that she wants, and then tries it out for herself!
"The slower you pull, the tighter the curl will be"
LOOK 2
Quick & simple up-do
From a tousled look to a side-style bun, Amy backcombs and then pulls sections of the hair around behind the left ear and pins it up, a quick and easy transformation and the perfect choice to add a bit of edge to that evening outfit!
"With backcombing, you can make something as simple as a ponytail look exciting...it's really useful when it comes to hairstyling, especially if your hair has just been freshly washed"
LOOK 3
A touch of vintage
"Keep adding hair grips and tucking away those loose ends until you feel comfortable", says Amy, who catered this neat and elegant style to mimic a similar one that Carly donned to a wedding event last year. She leaves a few pieces of hair around the face that serves to soften the look.
Super-sized, ballerina tight, or marvellously messy -- buns are one of the most commonly used hairstyles, especially in school girls! A quick and easy 'off the face' option, look preppy but practical with a brilliant bun!
Sofia Calzini models the understated messy bun, in turn pulling off a look of high fashion freshness!

Scarfarama Extravaganza with
Yasmine of Bawtry!
Looking to add the sweet shades of spring or pretty pert prints to your outfit? Then look no further!
On Tuesday 11th March, Yasmine of Bawtry took centre stage for Bawtry Fashion Week and hosted 'Scarfarama Day', which saw the designer boutique of Dower House Square filled with brilliant bursts of colour - from breezy blues to powder pinks to perky polka dots and fancy florals... colourful collections dominated the shop floor!
Come April, Yasmine will celebrate being in business for an astounding 40 years!
Established in 1974 by Annette Woolliams, the Bawtry boutique boasts an enviable amount of fashion flair and experience , with daughter Emma Morris, formally of Joseph Ribkoff, also now a partner in business!
The delightful duo welcomed their customers with bubbly...
"All scarves are £12.99 or two scarves for £25.00", says Annette.
"We're running the special offer all week", she adds, whilst passing her shoppers a glass of champagne.
I ask why Yasmine chose to run 'Scarfarama Day' and what's so great about these playful pieces.
So Annette explains that if you know how, they can be styled in a variety of ways that can act as the ultimate accessory to spice up your outfit.
I learn that there is no set rule on how to wear them- "You can be so versatile with a scarf and tailor it to match your outfit. Whether you drape it around your neck, tie it to your belt or wear it as a sarong, you can style it to your liking", explains Annette.
Emma demonstrates this by choosing a scarf for customer Maureen Holt, and then shows her the different ways it can be worn.
Stocking brands such as Betty Barclay, Ann Balon, Tuzzi, Joseph Ribkoff and much more, Yasmine of Bawtry will find you not only the perfect scarf, but the perfect outfit too, especially for that special occasion!
TODAY, the brilliant boutique are hosting 'Occasion Wear Day', where models will promote the amazing pieces that are in store. A fantastic event of ultimate fabulousness that is not to be missed!!

ROBINSONS
stage a rolling fashion show reaching fabulous fashion heights for
Bawtry Fashion Week
From the key trends to the hottest labels, Robinsons proved earlier this week that the family owned boutique is a Bawtry jewel, with their in-store rolling fashion show that took place on 12th March in relation to Bawtry Fashion Week featuring a display of designer-desires.
A 7-dayer fashionista frenzy, Robinsons took the Wednesday window and broadcasted their colourful collections and seasonal must-haves across their social media accounts, with Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model finalist Danielle Sandhu parading and posing in gorgeous pieces from the industry's top names.
Armani, Mulberry, Ralph Lauren, Moschino and Versace - these power fashion houses dominated the event with the spring/summer sensations from their SS14 collections.
From bright bolds and exotic prints, to monochrome minimalism, powder pastels and cute chicness - the shop floor is stocked with the latest ultimate must-haves!
Take a sneak peek into the 'behind the scenes' action where we see the productive team of Robinsons styling outfits that oozed with wow-worthiness!
Wendy Jones, owner of Robinsons of Bawtry together with husband Russ Jones, can be found on the second floor gracing the ladies wear department with her expertise touch of fashion flavour and elegant eye.
Pictured mid-styling, Wendy explains, "Seen as it's Cheltenham time, we thought we'd do a feature on a races outfit", whilst adding, "a lady actually bought this exact look only the other day!"
As if by magic, the woman who we were just discussing turns up in store whilst Danielle is modelling her recent purchase, and states, "Everything about it is just so gorgeous!"
Priced at £495, this Armani Collezioni dress is the perfect example of 'minimal elegance'. From the V-neck to the pretty pleats and deep draped pockets, this belted blend of linen and silk flatters the feminine figure, with Wendy commenting, "It doesn't seem much when it's off. The transformation from the hanger to actually wearing it is quite phenomenal".
Alongside Wendy, fashion grad and boutique team member Hannah Sharp dressed Danielle in what will be and is already becoming the current craze!
White is forecasted to be a major trend this season, which will have fashionista's flocking to the rails of Robinsons when they see what they have in store!
