Tickhill gets Trendy!
Last month saw Tickhill get trendy when the footy-mums and fabulous-fashionistas flocked to the village to attend the stylish show in support of 'operation renovation' for Tickhill Juniors! Organised by prime and pioneering figure of the club Jane Macdonald, known for her generous time-giving and passionate promoting of the project, the event was bursting with discounted deals and plush pretty picks from high-street favourites such as Topshop, Mango, and Zara! Working with Complete Clothing Company, it was like being sat in the audience of Tickhill's very own Next Top Model as gorgeous ladies Jemma Tough-Jones, Rebecca Reeve, Tanya Maria De-Birkinshaw and Rachel Fletcher modelled the sought-after labels. The hall, surrounded by stalls and stands decorated with the seasonal spring/summer must-haves, became a bargain-boutique and mini-runway as they catwalked the chic collections that were up for grabs!
Behind the scenes, blonde bombshell Rebecca Reeve added the glitz and glam that she did out-front. From generating generous raffle prizes to organising beauty prep and media attention, the mum of two, who modelled with her trendy-trio, ensured that the night had a touch of fashionista flavour!
Pretty brunette and talented MUA Sam Howcroft wowed with her makeover mastery and excellent expertise, bringing her Benefit brilliance to the Tickhill Institute where the event was being held, whilst bubbly and beautiful hairstylists Kirsty, Dom, Beth and Lauren also generously offered their time, bringing their skills to the stage and went under super-speed-styling-mode before putting their tools aside and modelling themselves! The Urban Lounge ladies, whose salon has just opened in The Courtyard in Bawtry, left invitations with an introductory offer on the seats of all those who attended too.
Jane, the face of fundraising and who plans to schedule the event again for October, showed her thanks via Facebook writing, "Nearly £300 raised so thanks to all who attended it is appreciated". The proceeds went towards launching the fabulous project that Jane- full-time mother, wife, worker, and crown of charity collecting- has worked so tirelessly hard to make happen, and her efforts didn't go unappreciated!
The parents and their children of Tickhill Juniors, who now have a fully operational tuck shop and indoor shelter, were evidently thrilled with the new addition that is now open for business, and it all started off as an unwanted Portakabin! Trent Refactories, who kindly donated the pre-loved cabin, speak about the road-to-transformation here:
News like this reminds us just how important and powerful the effectiveness of 'community spirit' is, and that's exactly the vibe I was surrounded by when sat in the audience of the Tickhill Fashion Show, which was pretty much a sell out event! The children took to the centre catwalk too, donning a range of cute collections that the mums and grandmas most definitely rushed to purchase once the buying-frenzy began! An evening full of smiles, shopping and socialising, fun, fashion and fundraising- I returned home with a bag of pretty holiday purchases and a happy little brother (the one cooly rocking the checks, bottom right), who got to enjoy a night with his footie-friends- that is after I spent around an hour convincing him to model!!
A massive thanks to photographer Andy Bradley who captured some fantastic shots of the night and who you can find via Facebook here ! For those who missed the event... I definitely recommend putting the next one down in your diary once the dates are confirmed! Compared to this spring/summer soiree of sarongs and maxis, I predict the October occasion will be somewhat of a winter wonderland, with lots of faux furs, knits and warm wools!
Until then, #teamTJs
